This is a week after the NRL and AFL Grand Finals in Sydney ...and it will give punters and music industry a refreshing opportunity to switch cultures. They will revel in an avalanche of great guitar playing – in an exciting variety of styles – at many venues across the Balmain Peninsular! Australia's best profiled players will be strutting their stuff, and it will be a rare opportunity for them to be heard and compared in the concentrated format of the program. Starting with a bang on the Friday night at the Bridge Hotel, the event will commence with a star studded version of Steve Flack’s Guitar Heroes show. The lineup is currently being confirmed, but includes such performers as Dennis Wilson (Kahvas Jute) backed by Steve’s band that consists of Mick O’Shea (Judge Mercy, Pete Wells Band), and Drum Media’s inimitable Michael Smith! The Guitar Heroes;Guitar Fest will include Australia's Best Guitar Player Competition at The Bridge Hotel on the Sunday afternoon, 7th October. The contest is supported by Australian Guitar Magazine, and will open up industry doors for the winner. The Press Hits Australia Monday, March 5, 2007 Building on the underground swell that has established them throughout America and Europe, Brooklyn based The Press have just announced that they are preparing to unload a dose of their fragmented indie swash upon Australian audiences. Via a whirlwind of blogging on their highly successful Noxious Saucy Beast EP, The Press racked up a bounty of critical acclaim in the US that saw their release flogged across hundreds of US college radio stations (and Europe) – a trend that the 2006 follow-up 7-inch The Red Comes Ringin’ saw continue. Come March, the quartet will be swaggering up and down east-coast Australia in support of their new EP Milk, and the Times That Never Were, due for release in April. Several of the tracks have already been released to myspace (The Kindly Woodcutter, Yosemite Sam Morning) and the band is hard at work on their debut album, which will hit shelves later this year. The upcoming tour will signify The Press’s Aussie debut, linking an Australian generation to their underground phenomenon. It's called AustralianMusicHistory.com. The site is an attempt to provide a permanent record of Australian bands, musicians, recordings and technical crew no matter what the musical genre, both current and past. It will have a bias towards Rock and Pop in the beginning but eventually we would like to highlight Aussie music of all types. For further info contact Colleen or George on 1300 731 418 top Gear Stolen Thursday, August 10, 2006 Black Label are currently working on their 4th CD and are always playing numerous gigs in the Sydney area with a very strong fan base. Unfortunately they had their van stolen on Wednesday 2 Aug with all their stage equipment in it. They have got back their van but no stage gear. With weekly gigs to play they will have to hire their gear until they can raise the money to replace them. This band have worked their way through the music industry the hard way and it seems they are still doing it tough. They are always there to help out others in their time of need having done many benefit concerts. They don't want handouts they just want their gear back.

Peter was one of lifes genuine gentlemen and was extremely helpful to me when I was frst starting out in the industry. He was an excellent repairer of anything musical or electronic. Give it to Pete and it got fixed right. We bought some PA gear from him in the mid 80's which was ahead of its' time and was manufactured in Pete's shed at Bargo. I hadn't seen him for many years but I know that he was still highly regarded as a luthier and also ran a PA hire business. Awesome!!! These guys are one of my all time favourite bands. I was a regular punter at many of their gigs in the early 80's and had a chance to do sound for them a few times over the years as well. Lead man, Izzy Foreal, is a genuine entertainer, a very funny dude and a great bass player. At a bikers party around about 1992, he introduced myself and the lighting man as Mr Novak and Mr Good. This is the only gig that Bob ever does that earns him hugs & kisses he tells me. He also tells me that it is the most rewarding gig on his calendar each year.
